Sarah Montross
Sarah is a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 500) who has practiced and studied yoga since 2002. Sarah is driven to teach yoga because she hope to be able to give others the tools that yoga has given her to live a more joyful, fulfilling life and enjoy rich, complex relationships. Sarah's approach to teaching is casual while asking students to be attentive, vigilant, and conscious in their asana practice and their lives. Her classes usually include yoga philosophy and are always rooted in intelligent sequencing that emphasizes alignment principles. She is interested in equipping students to be their own teachers and in laughing. A lot.
Sarah received her 200-hour certification from Laughing Lotus Yoga Center and her 500-hour certification from Yogamaya, both in New York City. When she's not practicing asana or studying philosophy, Sarah is living the principles of yoga through her relationships with other beings, cooking healthy, mindful, and delicious meals, reading voraciously, dabbling in writing, and playing with home design. Sarah loves to travel and finds herself drawn mostly to India and moody dark places like Scotland. Her first trip to India was in 2012 and she has been back 3 more times since that initial trip. Her travels have taken her to Chennai, Mahabalipuram, Tirupati, Mumbai, Vrindavan, Agra, Pandharpur, Pune, Delhi, Pushkar, Ranthambore, Pushkar, Udaipur, Shimla, Kerala, and Rishikesh. India never fails to teach her something new, and the rampant beauty and depth of the country keeps her returning time and again.
She continues her studies with teachers like Christina Sell, Carrie Owerko, Gioconda Parker, Stacey Brass, Bryn Chrisman, Manorama, Professor Edwin Bryant, and Patricia Walden.
